Long time - no speak!

Your monitor has a resolution of 1366 x 768 with a 5 ms response rate

What motherboard have you got and can you be more specific on your graphics card?

256mb don't sound like a lot nowadays, that might be your problem? What does your picture look like when you aren't gaming?

If it don't look good on windows desktop then your monitors probably knackered; if it's fine then a new sub £100 graphics card should sort you.

Your CPU and ram would probably be fine?

CPU: misco.co.uk/applicatio...32&CatId=0

Graphics card: www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/...gddr5.html

Ram: misco.co.uk/applicatio...CatId=3293

There used to be the same ram on amazon for around £60 i tried lookingbut couldnt find it also you might wanna check what your motherboard is and make sure everything will actually fit.

Download CPU-Z, this will list a load of info on your pc and give us details of your motherboard under the 'mainboard' tab; think the american megatrends relates to a chip on your mobo?

Have you tried reseating your graphics card?

Does it have a fan on it, as some of those cards are 'silent' so just rely on a heat-sink to keep them cool; could point a spare fan at it and see if that helps?

If you have a E4500 CPU then your current motherboard won't support the X4 955.

In terms of RAM, you'd probably only see a couple of FPS increase, if that, moving to 4GB at the resolution you're talking about gaming at; unless of course you plan on overclocking your CPU, then your RAM speed will come into play.

In short, the spec of your PC is going to be influenced by what resolution you want to game at, which is going to be set by your monitor.

If you're gonna join us on BFBC2 and BF3 (when it gets released) then a quad core would give you more grunt, as these games can utilise 4 cores.

Thanks mate, a friend is taking a look today for me, so fingers crossed. He's also instaling my windows 7. once i get the pc back ill get acurate info up for you.
At the moment a pretty simple set up is the best i can do, just to get back on it. Once i can save some funds i can either upgrade this pc or buy a new one, then get a better screen.

cheers mate, hope to see you in game soon
