Mate, both are very good cards and will max out BF4 no problems. This discussion deciding between these cards is pretty informative.

www.tomshardware.co.uk...-280x.html

It states that the extra 2Gig on the 770 would help if you are playing on a resolution greater that 1080p or plan on using multi-monitor set up. It may also be a little more future proof but that's debatable.

I would choose between the GTX770 4GB and the 280x toxic IMHO. Price could effect your choice too.

Also to note is that some games will be optimised for AMD and others for NVIDIA. I seriously doubt an extra 5fps here and there will make much difference so go with the card that you feel more comfortable with. Sorry that may not be much help but check out the discussion in the link. Good luck dude.

I also intended (tried) to switch to a newer graphicscard.
As i had no problems with the last two AMD/ATI Cards, i opted to go that way again and choose the R9 280x (which is essentially an 7970 boost).

So i bought an MSI R280x Twin Frozr.

It was very quiet (compared to my current HD6870) and had overall very good FPS in high settings plus as its an AMD Card it can handle the Mantle API which is good for Battlefield 4 or any other Game thats based on Frostbite Engine.

But i had serious graphicproblems after about 30 minutes of gametime.
The textures began to flicker. After talks with MSI Support, buying a new powersupply and a complete reinstall of the OS (including a switch to Win 8.1) i was not able to get rid of the errors. A second card of that type had the same errors.

While i cant say for sure that it was only the card, i read in forums that that problem seems to be not uncommon with these types of AMD Cards.

So from my personal expirience i would not recommend an R9 280x Card at them moment. Atleast none from MSI.

I decided to stay a little longer with my HD6870.

I upgraded from Gforce GTX560 Ti to an AMD Vapor-X R9 280X was well happy moving as i now get +40 fps running in Mantle than Directx 11

had only one problem on mantle and that was memory after a few hours continuous game play
